Their Relationship

Dear Reader,

I know that I wrote to you about her childhood here, what it was like meeting him, and growing up under his “care.” You should also know that she never recovered her memory and in this sense she will always be incomplete. But if you asked her whether or not remembering her past bothers her, she would tell you that she knows enough. That her life with him is all she needs to know.

From the moment when she revealed that her memories of a life before him were gone, he adopted her. Not in the legal sense, of course, but in the way that truly matters. She was no longer just a test subject. She became his confidante and partner. He told her about his pain, the injustice, his feeling of isolation from his family. He told her of his dreams to infiltrate the gifted community, to expose its secrets, and bring down the entire institution.

These dreams became hers as well.

And together they hatched a plan, one that if successful would give him the revenge that he had been searching for his whole life. But what would she gain in the process? The satisfaction of helping him achieve this goal. After all, he is her only family.

I guess the question remains, however, will aiding him be enough for her? Right now she is nothing more than a blank canvas, one that he has painted over with his own frustrations and desires, but what happens when she leaves him and takes the brush into her own hands? What kind of person will she become?

I’ll leave it there for now, to let you ponder how their relationship might change in the future when they will necessarily part ways in order to set their plan in motion.

Sincerely,

Freiya
